Superman (Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi)

DC Studio’s first feature film to hit the big screen, “Superman” flies onto 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Sept. 23, from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The superhero blockbuster is also now available to own on Digital, and is currently streaming on HBO Max.

In his signature style, James Gunn (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films) takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.

When Superman (David Corenswet, “Twisters”) is drawn into conflicts both abroad and at home, his actions to protect humankind are questioned, and his vulnerability allows tech billionaire and master deceiver Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult, the “X-Men” movies) to leverage the opportunity to get Superman out of the way for good. Will the Daily Planet’s intrepid reporter Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), together with the aid of Metropolis’s other metahumans and Superman’s own four-legged companion, Krypto, be able to help Superman before Luthor can completely destroy him?

The film follows Superman’s journey to reconcile his heritage as the Kryptonian Kal-El with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas, and his selfless determination to use his power for good as humanity’s protector. Guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned, he is the embodiment of truth, justice and a better tomorrow.

The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital releases of “Superman” come loaded with special features, including the hour-long “Adventures in the Making of ‘Superman’” featurette and the animated Krypto short “Krypto Saves the Day!: School Bus Scuffle.” Several other behind-the-scenes featurettes are included on the releases as well: “Icons Forever: Superman’s Enduring Legacy,” “Lex Luthor: The Mind of a Master Villain,” “Kryptunes: The Music of ‘Superman,’” “Paws to Pixels: Krypto is Born,” “Breaking the News: The Daily Planet Returns,” “The Ultimate Villain,” “The Justice Gang” and “A New Era: DC Takes Off.” Additionally, the Digital release includes a gag reel, deleted scenes and a director’s commentary with James Gunn.
