Song Sung Blue (Biography, Drama, History, Music)

Focus Features’ inspirational love story “Song Sung Blue” is now available to own on Digital from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film debuts on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Based on an incredible true story, Mike (Hugh Jackman, “Deadpool & Wolverine”) and Claire (Kate Hudson, “Almost Famous”) are two down-on-their-luck musicians who prove that it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams. They form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning and Thunder, rising from a humble garage to dive bar gigs to unexpected hometown stardom. When tragedy strikes, their love for each other and passion for music give them the strength to overcome hardships, rediscover hope and inspire everyone around them.

Based on the award-winning 2008 documentary of the same name by Greg Kohs (“The Great Alone”), writer-director Craig Brewer (“Hustle & Flow”) brings the remarkable true story to life by exploring the power of music and the timeless influence of iconic musician Neil Diamond. Viewers can now go backstage to experience the strength and perseverance that drives the unforgettable romance, as “Song Sung Blue” comes home on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD with never-before-seen extended musical performances and all-new behind-the-scenes featurettes that dive deeper into the drama, humor and Diamond’s timeless anthems. Special features include a feature commentary with writer-director Craig Brewer, extended performances of “Crunchy Granola Suite” and “Sweet Caroline” and three featurettes. Audiences can watch as Jackman and Hudson reminisce on their characters’ love story, co-dependency and their undeniable electricity in “One Plus One Equals Three;” see just how Brewer brought “Song Sung Blue” to life in “Lightning in a Bottle;” and watch as costume designer Ernesto Martinez (“Veep”) reveals the art of storytelling through stitch and style in “Eye for Style.”

Wicked: For Good (Drama, Family, Fantasy, Musical, Romance)

Return to the Emerald City for the epic conclusion to the untold story of the witches of Oz when “Wicked: For Good” flies onto 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Jan. 20, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is also now available to own on Digital.

In “Wicked: For Good,” Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo, “Harriet”) and Glinda (Ariana Grande, “Victorious”) are now estranged, each living with the consequences of their choices. Elphaba, now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile, continuing her fight to expose The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum, “Jurassic Park”). Meanwhile, Glinda has become a glamorous symbol of Goodness, basking in the perks of fame and popularity. As the angry citizens of Oz rise up against the Wicked Witch, Elphaba and Ginda must reunite and truly see each other — if they are to change themselves and all of Oz.

“Wicked: For Good” comes home with two versions of the movie for fans to enjoy on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital — including a sing-along version — as well as four deleted scenes (“Brick Making,” “Glinda Train Tour,” “Friendship Montage” and “The Wizard is Sentimental”), an exclusive look into the making of the movie with Grande, Erivo and the cast and filmmakers (“Making ‘Wicked: For Good’”) and a feature commentary with director Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”). Four behind-the-scenes featurettes are also included on the releases. Viewers can learn why Chu was the ideal director to bring “Wicked: For Good” from stage to screen in “The True Wizard;” take a closer look at Elphaba’s new song in “More Than Just a Place” and Glinda’s new song in “The Girl in the Bubble;” and return to the place where the movie’s climax unfolds as the cast and filmmakers reflect on Elphaba’s embrace of her identity as the Wicked Witch, the poignant reunion with Glinda and the bittersweet consequences that follow in “Kiamo Ko.”

Two additional deleted scenes are included with the Digital release — “Even You, Fiyero” and “Return to the Governor’s Mansion” — while the DVD release include the aforementioned feature commentary track, the featurettes “The True Wizard” and “Kiamo Ko,” and deleted scenes.
