Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (Horror)
An original take on the mummy genre, “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” debuts on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, July 14, from New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film is also now available to own on Digital.
Hot off the record-setting resurrection of “Evil Dead Rise,” writer/director Lee Cronin turns to one of the most iconic horror stories of all time with an audacious and twisted retelling. The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.
Bonus features on the 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital releases of “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” include deleted scenes, a commentary by writer/director/executive producer Lee Cronin and three behind-the-scenes featurettes. Viewers can explore the film’s claustrophobic atmosphere as Cronin reveals his striking vision for a terrifying new mummy tale filled with heart and horror in “The Making of ‘Lee Cronin’s The Mummy,’” get an inside look at the film’s wild SFX and practical filmmaking magic — including how actress Natalie Grace (“Raymar”) transformed into a demon-possessed vessel through intense prosthetics and chilling physicality — in “A Bloody and Grotesque Spectacle;” and explore the story’s Egyptian roots and demonic rituals in “Producing Possession and Ancient Demons.”
Son of the Soil (Action, Thriller)
Following an acclaimed festival run, “Son of the Soil” debuts on Digital Tuesday, July 14, from Action Xtreme and Trinity Content Partners.
Directed by Chee Keong Cheung (“Bodyguard: A New Beginning”), “Son of the Soil” follows Zion Ladejo (Razaaq Adoti, “Amistad”), a former Nigerian Special Ops Paratrooper, who lives in quiet exile overseas, haunted by the ghosts of a catastrophic mission that went horribly wrong. Wracked by guilt from the trauma of his past, Zion is a man adrift, disconnected from his homeland, his purpose and himself.
After receiving news of his sister’s untimely death, Zion returns to Nigeria. Upon his return he finds a community in ruins, ravaged by a devastating drug epidemic and held hostage by a network of powerful drug dealers.
Fueled by grief and a burning need for justice, Zion launches a campaign of violence against the criminal empire poisoning his hometown. As he delves deeper into the underworld, old instincts reignite. With the focus of a soldier and the fury of a grieving brother, he takes on a system riddled in corruption and violence. As the body count rises, so do the stakes, as Zion turns to former brother-in-arms turned street soldier, Jagunlabi, to help him rally an army to confront not only the men who killed his sister, but also those who continue to import narcotics and poison the Lagos streets.
Winner of three awards at the 2025 Black Star International Film Festival in Ghana (Best Director, Overall Best Film and Best International Showcase), the coveted Audience Choice Award at the African International Film Festival and two awards from seven nominations at the Best of Nollywood Awards, “Son of the Soil” has earned recognition as one of the most ambitious action films to emerge from Nollywood in recent years. It most recently secured 23 nominations at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival taking place in September, including nominations for Best Picture Film, Best Cinematography Film, Best Actor and Best Director.
