“The Golden Years” debuts on DVD Tuesday May 30, from Acorn, an RLJ Entertainment brand. After five decades of law-abiding, taxpaying citizenship, retired couple Martha (Virginia McKenna, “The Camomile Lawn”) and Arthur (Bernard Hill, “Wolf Hall”) are forced into an unexpected life of crime in this star-studded comedy heist caper. The financial industry has stolen their hard-earned pensions, so they’re going to steal them back, at the same time helping friends who are down on their luck, and saving their social club from becoming a supermarket.

Retired couple Arthur (Bernard Hill) and Martha (Virginia McKenna) Goode have led a simple life in the suburbs, relaxing at home and socializing with friends at their club. But when the nation’s financial crisis empties their hard-earned pension accounts, the couple seizes the opportunity to replenish their funds through a series of bank robberies.

Dressed in masks and armed with cucumbers as guns, the unlikely criminal duo makes national news. But with detectives Sid (Alun Armstrong, “New Tricks”) and Stringer (Brad Moore, “North v South”) closing in on them, and their beloved club in talks to become a supermarket, the Goodes enlist their friends’ help to pull off one last, audacious heist.

Filmed on location in scenic Bristol and the Cotswolds, the dramedy features an internationally renowned cast that includes Una Stubbs (“Sherlock”), Phil Davis (“Poldark”), Ellen Thomas (“EastEnders”), Sue Johnston (“Downton Abbey”) and Simon Callow (“Four Weddings and a Funeral”). The DVD includes the feature-length movie plus bonus interviews with the cast and crew. It is available for a suggested retail price of $29.99, AcornOnline.com.

The fifth season of TNT’s popular crime drama “Major Crimes” is set for release Tuesday May 30 on DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. “Major Crimes: The Complete Fifth Season” features all 21 episodes from the hit police drama’s fifth season, plus a gag reel and deleted scenes. Having started as a spinoff to the acclaimed police procedural “The Closer,” has become one of basic cable’s top programs.

This season finds the dedicated team of detectives tackling some of the city’s most complicated criminal cases. From searching for a missing teenage girl who vanished while helping the homeless, to hunting down the killer of a potentially dirty cop and following up on a beheading in an isolated corner of Los Angeles, cable’s favorite investigators work to arrest and deal out a succession of criminals and killers.

The division is led by department head Captain Sharon Raydor, portrayed by Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell (“Dances with Wolves”). The unit is comprised of Lt. Provenza (G.W. Bailey, “The Closer”), Lt. Andy Flynn (Tony Denison, “The Closer”), Lt. Mike Tao (Michael Paul Chan, “The Closer”), Det. Julio Sanchez (Raymond Cruz, “The Closer”), tech expert and reserve police officer Buzz Watson (Phillip P. Keene, “The Closer”), Detective Amy Sykes (Kearran Giovanni, “One Life to Live”), Rusty Beck (Graham Patrick Martin, “Two and a Half Men”), Dr. Morales (Jonathan Del Arco, “The Closer”), Assistant Chief Russell Taylor (Robert Gossett, “The Closer”), and Deputy Chief Fritz Howard (recurring guest star Jon Tenney, The Closer”).

Outside of their work, each member of the team must balance their work and personal lives. Captain Raydor strives to push her adopted son Rusty, (Graham Patrick Martin, “The Closer”), through college, while figuring out where she wants to go in her ongoing romance with Andy Flynn; Julio Sanchez decides to try to adopt a child himself; Provenza develops sensitivities related to his new marriage to Patrice (Dawnn Lewis); Buzz Watson picks up the 30-year-old murder investigation of his father and uncle; Mike Tao wins an award for his work as a Hollywood consultant; and Amy Sykes confronts the idea of motherhood versus focusing on her career.

“Major Crimes” is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company and Walking Entropy, in association with Warner Bros. Television.  “The Closer’s” James Duff, who also created the series, is an executive producer alongside Duppy Demetrius, Mike Berchem, Adam Belanoff, Rick Wallace, Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin. “Major Crimes” has been renewed for a sixth season on TNT. The five-disc DVD set will retail for $39.99 SRP. The fifth season of “Major Crimes” is also available to own on Digital HD via purchase from digital retailers.

The three-part Acorn TV British miniseries “Code of a Killer” debuts on DVD Tuesday May 30, from Acorn, an RLJ Entertainment brand. From the director of “Broadchurch” and the producers of “Line of Duty,” “Code of a Killer” tells the true story of how a brilliant scientist and a progressive police detective unite to create the biggest advance in modern criminal investigation. BAFTA-winner David Threlfall (“Shameless”) stars as tenacious detective

David Baker, who heads up the investigation into the brutal murders of two Leicestershire schoolgirls during the 1980s. Only a few miles away, Dr. Alec Jeffreys, (John Simm, “Doctor Who”) a scientist at Leicester University, invents a remarkable technique to read each individual’s unique DNA fingerprint. The DVD includes three episodes plus behind-the-scenes featurettes ($34.99, AcornOnline.com). “Code of a Killer” premiered in the U.S. in February on Acorn TV, the North American streaming service for world-class television from Britain and elsewhere.

When the trail goes cold on the homicides of two teenage girls, Detective David Baker (David Threlfall) contacts Dr. Alec Jeffreys (John Simm), who has made headlines with his groundbreaking DNA research. Together they attempt what has never been done before – to solve a crime through DNA profiling. Facing public opposition and lack of funding, Baker and Jeffreys conduct the world’s first “DNA manhunt” to find the girls’ murderer and stop a serial killer in his tracks. This riveting miniseries also stars Anna Madeley (“The Crown”), Anna Tiernan (“300”), Lydia Rose Bewley (“The Royals”), Farzana Dua Elahe (“The Hundred-Foot Journey”) and Robert Glenister (“Hustle”).
