Blue Hawaii (Comedy, Musical)
Elvis Presley’s beloved 1961 classic “Blue Hawaii” arrives on both 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray for the first time ever Tuesday, November 15, as part of the collectible Paramount Presents line.
Ex-G.I. Chadwick “Chad” Gates (Presley) is coming home to Hawaii. Though his mother (Angela Lansbury) expects him to take over the family business, Chad would rather wear an aloha shirt than a white collar. When he goes to work as a tour guide at his girlfriend’s agency, it isn’t long before a group of amorous gals fights for his attention.
Viewers can finally enjoy this rollicking Technicolor musical in ultra-crisp 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision and HDR-10. Fully restored from the original 35mm camera negative, “Blue Hawaii” looks more spectacular than ever with every colorful costume and vivid Hawaiian background brought to life. The first of three films that Presley shot in Hawaii, “Blue Hawaii” celebrated the brand-new exotic state and features the massive hit song “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which was certified platinum.
For the restoration, the original negative was scanned in 4K/16bit, however, the opening title sequence was very grainy because it originally used duped film. That sequence was completely rebuilt using the original film elements from the Paramount library. Brand new text overlays were created for a truly spectacular opening sequence befitting this delightful film.
The Paramount Presents “Blue Hawaii” release includes the film on both a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc and Blu-ray disc as well as access to a digital copy. Additionally, the Blu-ray disc includes the film’s original theatrical trailer, a commentary track by historian James L. Neibaur and a “Blue Hawaii” Photo Scrapbook containing hi-res images from the Paramount archives, including behind-the-scenes shots.

For a record-breaking 14 seasons and 435 episodes, “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet” aired on ABC-TV from 1952 through 1966, becoming one of the most cherished cultural touchstones of the 20th century. The gentle humor of the prolific and popular sitcom was brought to the screen by the real-life Nelson family: Ozzie and wife Harriet with their sons, David and Rick, all portraying themselves in a trend-setting blend of fact-meets-fiction comedy decades before “Seinfeld” and other semi-reality-based shows.
“The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet” humorously chronicled the daily lives of the Nelson family as David and Ricky grew up before millions of weekly viewers. For the very first time, in association with the Nelson family, the entire series has been digitally restored with complete episodes from the original film negatives and audio reels for superior picture and sound quality. Both Season Seven and Eight feature rare adventures not seen on television in decades and retail for $29.98 each.
