Kinds of Kindness (Comedy, Drama, Tragedy)

Searchlight Pictures’ twisted, boundary-pushing fable “Kinds of Kindness” is now available to own on Digital. The dark comedy debuts on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Oct. 8.

From Academy Award-nominated director Yargos Lanthimos’ (“Poor Things”), “Kinds of Kindness” is a triptych fable that follows a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life, a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems a different person, and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

“Kinds of Kindness” features a star-studded cast led by Emma Stone (“La La Land”), Jesse Plemons (“The Irishman”) and Willem Dafoe (“Spider-Man”). Bonus features on the release include two deleted scenes — “Robert Ignores the SatNav” and “Liz isn’t Recognised” — and the 15-minute featurette “It Takes All Kinds: The Vision of ‘Kinds of Kindness.’” Viewers can join the cast and crew for a behind-the-scenes look at the film to see how the sets, costumes, cinematography and music amplify its themes and discover, maybe, what RMF stands for.

From writer/director M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”) comes the story of the Hess family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, who wake up one morning to find a 500-foot crop circle in their backyard. Graham Hess (Mel Gibson, “Braveheart”) and his family are told extraterrestrials are responsible for the sign in their field. They watch, with growing dread, the news of crop circles being found all over the world. “Signs” is the emotional story of one family on one farm as they encounter the terrifying last moments of life as the world is being invaded.

The Watchers (Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Thriller)

Based on the novel by A.M. Shine, “The Watchers” is now available to own on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

This forest isn’t charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its tree line. Mina’s is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams. Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the Watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn’t reach the bunker in time. Afraid and trapped among strangers, Mina is desperate for answers. Who are the Watchers, and why are they keeping the humans imprisoned, keen to watch their every move?

“The Watchers” is written for the screen and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan (“Servant”) and produced by M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”). The film stars Dakota Fanning (“I Am Sam”), Georgina Campbell (“Barbarian”), Olwen Fouéré (“The Tourist”) and Oliver Finnegan (“Outlander”). Bonus features on the 4K, Blu-ray and Digital releases include four featurettes — “Welcome to the Show: The Making of ‘The Watchers,’” “Creating ‘The Watchers,’” “Constructing the Coop” and “Ainriochtán and the Irish Fairy Folklore” — and the 9-minute delete scene, “Lair of Love.”

Watchmen Chapter I (Action, Animation, Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi)

Based on DC’s acclaimed graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons, “Watchmen Chapter I” — the first part of an all-new animated two-part feature film from Warner Bros. Animation and Paramount — is now available to own exclusively on Digital. “Watchmen Chapter II” will be released later this year.

The R-rated animated feature is a faithful adaptation of the groundbreaking graphic novel series by writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons, which redefined the superhero genre when it debuted in the mid-1980s. It delves into the gritty and complex world of masked vigilantes in an alternate version of America during the Cold War era.

In an alternate world history set in 1985, the murder of a government-sponsored superhero draws his outlawed colleagues out of retirement and into a mystery that threatens to upend their personal lives and the world itself.

“Watchmen Chapter I” features a stellar voice cast that includes Matthew Rhys (“Brothers & Sisters”), Katee Sackhoff (“The Mandalorian”) and Titus Welliver (“Lost”). Special features on the release include “The Art of Adaptation: Introducing the Story” and “Dave Gibbons and Watchmen: Worldbuilding.”
