Be the first to watch 20th Century Studios’ “The Amateur” at home, as the high-stakes spy thriller is now available to own on Digital. The film debuts on 4K UHD and Blu-ray Tuesday, July 8.
Charlie Heller (Rami Malek) is a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. When his supervisors refuse to take action, Charlie takes matters into his own hands. He embarks on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge.
Audiences can uncover additional intel through bonus features that shed new light on Charlie’s world, including five deleted scenes (“Sarah Wonders How Charlie Can Trust His CIA Bosses,” “Henderson Blasts Heller for Failing a Training Exercise,” “Heller Tracks Gretchen Through Paris,” “A Third Assassin Chases Hellers Through the Hotel Basement” and “Heller Asks Inquiline Some Personal Questions”) and four featurettes. Viewers can join the cast and crew as they reflect on what drew them to the project in “The Team;” explore how the film’s production combined real-world locations with intricate set designs to create a visually stunning and immersive world in “The World;” go behind the scenes as the creative team uncovers how Charlie’s ingenious plan involving the sky pool was conceived, planned and executed in “The Pool;” and listen in as Academy Award-winning composer Volker Bertelmann (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) and director James Hawes (“Black Mirror”) talk about the challenge of creating the score’s various themes to bring emotion and drama to the film in “The Score.”
Drop (Drama, Mystery, Thriller)
The action-packed thriller that proves dating can be deadly, “Drop” is now available to own on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Violet (Meghann Fahy, “The White Lotus”) is a widowed mother who has worked up the courage to go on her first date in years with a charming photographer named Henry (Brandon Sklenar, “1923”). The cute couple’s killer chemistry is rudely interrupted by a series of anonymous drops to Violet’s phone showing a masked intruder entering her home and ordering her to follow a series of instructions. Violet must do exactly as she’s told or her loved ones will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.
From Blumhouse, producers of “M3GAN,” and Platinum Dunes, producers of “A Quiet Place,” “Drop” also stars Violett Beane (“The Flash”) and Jeffery Self (“Search Party”). Bonus features on the release include a feature commentary with director Christopher Landon (“Happy Death Day”), the making-of documentary “A Recipe for Thrills: Making ‘Drop’” and two behind-the-scenes featurettes. In “A Palate for Panic,” viewers are invited to take a seat and devour the details that went into creating Palate, a film set that doubles as a fully operational restaurant, while in “Killer Chemistry,” viewers can listen to actors Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar discuss their characters’ first date and how they managed to keep Violet and Henry grounded throughout the movie’s escalation of events.
