Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (Drama, Fantasy)
Available for the first time in 4K resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR), “Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles” comes home on Digital in 4K Ultra HD and as a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.
When grieving, 18th-century mortal Lewis (Brad Pitt, “Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood”) accepts an offer of everlasting life from the charismatic vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise, “Jerry Maguire”), he quickly realizes that his dark gift is also a curse that requires him to kill to survive. An eternity of blood, lust and torment awaits in the visually stunning film that redefined the vampire genre and was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Music, Original Score at the 67th Academy Awards.
Based on the blockbuster novel of the same name by Anne Rice, “Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles” features an all-star ensemble cast, including Christian Slater (“True Romance”) and Academy Award nominees Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), Stephen Rea (“The Crying Game”) and Kirsten Dunst (“The Power of the Dog”).
The newly remastered film includes brand-new bonus content on Digital and 4K UHD Blu-ray featuring its filmmakers reflecting on the making of the movie more than 30 years later, as well as never-before-seen deleted scenes. Viewers can listen to director Neil Jordan (“The Crying Game”) and film editor Mick Audsley (“12 Monkeys”) reveal the approach to the cinematography of “Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles” with a focus on the gothic romanticism achieved by director of photography Philippe Rousselot (“A River Runs Through It”) in the all-new featurette “Eternal Night and Deadly Light;” and step inside the darkly beautiful world of the film with Jordan and production designer Dante Ferretti (“Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”) as they unveil the art of the detailed sets, the augmented locations and the exquisite costumes of the movie in the all-new extra “‘Interview with the Vampire:’ Creating the World.” The Digital and 4K UHD Blu-ray releases also include the previously released bonus features: an introduction by Anne Rice, Neil Jordan and Antonio Banderas; a commentary track by Jordan; and the featurettes “In the Shadow of the Vampire” and “Lestat, Louis and the Vampire Phenomenon.”
Supergirl (Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi)
DC Studios’ newest feature film to hit the big screen, “Supergirl,” is now available to own on Digital, 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The movie is also currently streaming on HBO Max.
In its inaugural flight into the new DC Cinematic Universe, “Supergirl” reveals the origin of the interplanetary nomad Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock, “House of the Dragon”), a.k.a. Supergirl, cousin of Kal-El (David Corenswet, “Pearl”), better known as Superman. Headstrong, worldly-wise and often reckless, Supergirl exudes a brand of heroism all her own — truthful, relatable and always on her own terms. But when an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion. Together they undertake an epic, interstellar journey, struggling to balance one’s need for vengeance with the pursuit of justice — and to save the life of Kara’s best friend, her dog Krypto. Ultimately, Supergirl will prove that doing good can be tough…and it doesn’t always have to be nice.
The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital releases of “Supergirl” boast more than 90 minutes of bonus features, including deleted scenes and “The Making of ‘Supergirl.’” Viewers can also watch the animated short “Krypto Saves the Day: Coastal Catastrophe,” which tells the story of a fun day at the beach that goes sideways when some sneaky foes get between Krypto and his hot dog, and several behind-the-scenes featurettes that detail everything from the film’s comic book origins (“Flying Off the Page”) to Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”) living out his dream of playing Lobo (“The DC Dream: Lobo”). Viewers will learn more about the film’s score (“Mixtape for a Hero”), the creative process behind the movie’s unique alien looks (“A Practical Legacy”), the movie’s various worlds that Kara Zor-El steps into on her journey to hunt down Krem (Matthias Schoenaerts, “The Danish Girl”) of the Yellow Hills (“Space is a Bad Neighborhood, Babe”), the making of the “Showdown at Everly Square,” the relationship between Kara Zor-El and Krypto (“Girl’s Best Friend”) and more.
