Book Club: The Next Chapter (Comedy)

Oscar winners Diane Keaton (“Annie Hall”), Jane Fonda (“Klute,” “Coming Home”) and Mary Steenburgen (“Melvin and Howard”) and Oscar nominee Candice Bergen (“Starting Over”) star in Focus Features’ “Book Club: The Next Chapter,” now available to own on Digital from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The laugh-out-loud comedy will also be available for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, July 11.

The highly anticipated sequel follows four best friends as they take their book club to Italy for the fun girls’ trip they never had. When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure.

Bonus features on the release include three behind-the-scenes featurettes. “‘Book Club’: Back in Session” features the filmmakers and cast chatting about what made the first film such a success and the journey the main characters take in the sequel; “Still Stylish” focuses on how costume designer Stefano De Nardis (“Coco Chanel”) created each character’s style and how it melds with the actress portraying the part; and “The Women in Italy” covers how shooting the movie in Italy came to be and what it was like making a movie in Rome and Venice amongst actual tourists.

Evil Dead Rise (Horror)

The riveting, gore-filled thriller “Evil Dead Rise” is now available to own on 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

In “Evil Dead Rise,” the action moves out of the woods and into the city. The film tells the twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Lily Sullivan (“Barkskins”) and Alyssa Sutherland (“Vikings”), whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

Written and directed by Lee Cronin (“The Hole in the Ground”), “Evil Dead Rise” also stars Morgan Davies (“The End”), Gabrielle Echols (“Reminiscence”) and Nell Fisher (“Northspur”). The film was produced by longtime franchise producer Rob Tapert and executive produced by series creator and horror icon Sam Raimi and cult legend Bruce Campbell, along with John Keville, Macdara Kelleher, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Romel Adam and Victoria Palmeri.

The Truman Show (Comedy, Drama)

Director Peter Weir’s cinematic triumph “The Truman Show” celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with a newly remastered version of the beloved classic on 4K Ultra HD. The release will available for purchase on Tuesday, July 4, from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Starring the incomparable Jim Carrey (“Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”), “The Truman Show” was a box office and critical success, earning more than $264 million worldwide and a 95-percent fresh critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Nominated for three Academy Awards, “The Truman Show” is both wildly entertaining and a complex exploration of media consumption, surveillance and reality TV that was ahead of its time and even more relevant today.

Carrey stars as Truman Burbank, a man whose life is a nonstop TV show. Truman doesn’t realize that his quaint hometown is a giant studio set run by a visionary creator (Ed Harris, “Apollo 13”), that folks living and working there are Hollywood actors and that even his incessantly bubbly wife (Laura Linney, “Kinsey”) is a contract player. Gradually, Truman gets wise, and his response leaves viewers laughing, crying and cheering like few films ever have.

Fully remastered using scans of the original negative, the new 4K version of “The Truman Show” was approved by Weir. The film is presented with Dolby Vision high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos audio for a truly immersive experience. The 4K Ultra HD two-disc set includes the movie on both 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, along with access to a Digital copy of the film and legacy bonus content. Extras on the Blu-ray disc include deleted scenes, a photo gallery, the behind-the-scenes featurette “Faux Finishing, The Visual Effects of ‘The Truman Show’” and the two-part documentary “How’s It Going to End? The Making of ‘The Truman Show.’”
