Migration (Animation, Adventure, Comedy)

Spread your wings and get ready to soar with the Mallard family, whose vacation goes awry in the animated comedy “Migration,” now available on Digital, 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD from Illumination and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Filled with Illumination’s signature subversive humor, authentic heart and unforgettable characters, “Migration” is a hilariously funny, feathered family vacation like no other. Audiences can join the Mallard family as they embark on a journey south for the winter to Jamaica via New York City, only for their well-laid plans to go awry, leading to new friends and unknown horizons.

Featuring a star-studded comedic voice cast that includes Kumail Nanjiani (“Stuber”), Elizabeth Banks (“Pitch Perfect”), Keegan-Michael Key (“Keanu”), Awkwafina (“The Little Mermaid”) and Danny DeVito (“Batman Returns”), “Migration” boasts more than an hour of never-before-seen exclusive content on its Collector’s Edition release. See how the Mallard family came to life with the featurette “Taking Flight: The Making Of,” learn more about your favorite characters with “Meet the Cast,” gain the skills of an animator with four “How to Draw” tutorials (Mack, Delroy, Chump and Gwen), go behind the scenes with the cast as they record some of their silliest lines with “Microphone Madness,” watch three all-new mini-movies — including two original shorts (“Mooned” and’ Midnight Mission”) featuring everyone’s favorite mischief-makers, the Minions — and more.

Poor Things (Comedy, Drama, Romance)

Just in time to watch at home before the Academy Awards on March 10, Searchlight Pictures’ “Poor Things” is now available to own on Digital. The award-winning film also debuts on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, March 12.

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (“Dogtooth”) and producer Emma Stone (“The Curse”) comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe, “Spider-Man”). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo, “The Avengers”), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Winner of Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actress (Motion Picture Musical or Comedy) for Emma Stone at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, “Poor Things” has been nominated for 11 Academy Awards. It was also named one of the 10 best films of 2023 by both the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review. Bonus features on the release include three Deleted Things — “Brothel Doctor,” “Alfie’s Chapter” and “Bella’s Notebook” — and a making-of featurette, “Possessing Beauty,” that not only explores the costumes, makeup and prosthetics of the film in detail, but also showcases how Godwin and Bella’s home mirrors and accommodates them both.

Front Row Features has a giveaway the whole family will love. We are giving away a Digital copy of Illumination’s “Migration” to two lucky readers. To enter the contest, simply email socalmovieeditor@aol.com by March 12 for your chance to win. Good luck!
