HOLLYWOOD—It was a night for the dogs as Disney+ hosted a green carpet premiere for its new series “Turner & Hooch” at the Westfield Century City mall. Helping celebrate the launch of the series included cast members Josh Peck, Lyndsy Fonseca, Anthony Ruivivar, Brandon Jay McLaren, Reginald VelJohnson and Cristina Rosato.

About the series, Josh Peck, who plays Scott Turner, excitedly said that the show is not a remake of the 1989 movie that starred Tom Hanks.

“Basically this show is a continuation,” he said. “I play Tom Hanks’ son, and when you meet me, I’m this super intense career-driven guy, and a clean freak. My best friend is a Roomba. I’m on one track, ready to be a U.S. Marshal chief and then I’m given a 150 pound French Mastiff (Hooch) by my sister and it’s a dog I never wanted but I dog that I needed.”

Once Hooch comes into Turner’s life, comedy ensues along with issues of whether he should find a way to rid himself of the messy and rambunctious animal. As time goes by, though, Hooch becomes an important part of Scott’s life where Hooch is enlisted as a crimefighting dog by Josh’s chief.

Attendees at the premiere were treated to a sneak peek of the first episode of the 12-episode series along with fun items like a Hooch pillow and Disney+ blanket. There also was a station where attendees could have whatever name they wanted embroidered onto a “Turner & Hooch” bandana.

“Turner & Hooch” premieres Wednesday July 21 on Disney+.
