Hatchet: The Complete Collection (Action, Comedy, Horror, Thriller)

The first official release from Dark Sky Selects, writer-director Adam Green’s iconic “Hatchet” films are now available to own for the first time together in one Blu-ray package, “Hatchet: The Complete Collection.”

Unleashed at a time when the fun of ’80s slashers had all but disappeared from the cinematic landscape, “Hatchet” ushered in a new era of terror with its unapologetic brutality and introduction of Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder, “Jason X”), the modern bogeyman, who ruthlessly hunts those who dare tread into his swamp. With each installment, the stakes escalate, delivering bigger, bloodier scares and a relentless barrage of inventive kills. So, gather all your pieces, because it’s time to return to his swamp and learn once and for all that some legends truly never die.

The limited-edition SteelBook release includes the uncensored versions of “Hatchet,” “Hatchet II,” “Hatchet III” and “Victor Crowley” as well as a fifth disc featuring nearly two hours of bonus content. Included among the bonus materials are the brand-new extras “‘Hatchet’: Swamp Tales” and “Production Journals.”

“Hatchet: The Complete Collection” is the first of many iconic Dark Sky titles that will be available this year. Additional limited-edition releases of fan-favorite films and merchandise will be announced throughout the year, which will only be available direct to consumer at darkskyselects.com.

Twister (Action, Adventure, Thriller)

Just in time to rewatch before “Twisters” theatrical release on July 19, the 1996 edge-of-your-seat thriller “Twister” will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc and Digital for the first time Tuesday, July 9, from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

Don’t breathe, don’t look back — just run for your life when a destructive force of nature comes howling straight toward you, destroying everything in its path. Academy Award winner Helen Hunt (“As Good as It Gets”) stars as Dr. Jo Harding, who as a small girl watched as her father was sucked to his death from her family’s storm cellar by a massive tornado. Now a storm chaser, a scientist who risks her life to study the dark side of nature by taking her data-transmitting instruments directly into the path of a deadly storm, Jo chases the largest tornado ever to strike Oklahoma as her marriage implodes and rival scientists will stop at nothing to steal her breakthrough.

On March 25, 1997, “Twister” was the first theatrical feature film to be released on the DVD format. “Twister’s” highly anticipated 4K Ultra HD release includes an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the theatrical version of the movie in 4K with HDR and a Digital download of the film. The 4K remastering process was overseen by director Jan de Bont (“Speed”).

The 4K Ultra HD release of “Twister” includes the all-new extra “The Legacy of ‘Twister’ — Taken by the Wind,” which features de Bont discussing the groundbreaking film, as well as the following legacy content: “Chasing the Storm: ‘Twister’ Revisited,” “Anatomy of a Twister,” “HBO First Look: The Making of ‘Twister,’” the Van Halen music video “Humans Being” and a commentary by director Jan de Bont and visual effects supervisor Stefen Fangmeier (“Jurassic Park”).
