The Addams Family (Comedy)

It’s time to pay a visit to everyone’s favorite kooky, spooky and all-together ooky family as “The Addams Family” celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The live-action comedy will be released for the first time on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, as well as on a remastered Blu-ray, Tuesday Nov. 9, from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Originally released on November 22, 1991, the film stars Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christopher Lloyd, and Christina Ricci.

When long-lost Uncle Fester (Lloyd) reappears after 25 years in the Bermuda Triangle, Gomez (Julia) and Morticia (Huston) plan a celebration to wake the dead. But Wednesday (Ricci) barely has time to warm up her electric chair before Thing points out Fester’s uncommonly “normal” behavior. Could this Fester be a fake and part of an evil scheme to raid the Addams fortune?

Newly remastered and restored under the supervision of director Barry Sonnenfeld, “The Addams Family” will be presented in both the original theatrical version and a never-before-seen “More Mamushka!” version, which expands the memorable dance number. The Digital 4K Ultra HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and Blu-ray releases also include a brand-new featurette looking back at the making of the film that includes behind-the-scenes footage and a new interview with Sonnenfeld, as well as an introduction to the restored cut by him and an archival featurette. The discs also include access to a Digital copy of the film.

“The Addams Family” also is available now on Digital 4K Ultra.

The Concubine (Drama)

“The Concubine” arrives in a special two-disc DVD set Tuesday Nov. 9, from MPI Media Group.

Set during the early Joseon Dynasty in Korea, Hwa-yeon, a minister’s daughter and Kwon-yoo, a commoner, are deeply in love. Yet, when Hwa-yeon is ordered to the royal palace to become the King’s concubine, she and Kwon-yoo attempt to flee. They are intercepted by Hwa-yeon’s father and his men who threaten to kill Kwon-yoo. To save her one true love, Hwayeon agrees to go to the palace as instructed. Five years later, Hwa-yeon is the mother of the heir to the throne, but the King is slowly dying. After his death, the King’s step-mother, uses her power to appoint her biological son Sung-won as the successor. Sung-won has been madly in love with the unobtainable Hwa-yeon for years. Now that he must procreate in order to produce an heir to the throne, he can have any woman he wants except Hwa-yeon, which pushes both of them into a dangerous chess game of lust, sex and power.

Bonus features include special collector’s media book packaging, a 24-page booklet featuring director and actor profiles and photos and the original trailer.

The two-disc set includes both the original Korean language version as well as an English dubbed version.

The Early Films of Lee Isaac Chung (Drama)

Three award-winning films by Lee Isaac Chung, are available in a three-disc DVD box set Tuesday Nov. 9, from Film Movement.

The set comprises Chung’s 2007 debut feature, “Munyurangabo,” as well as “Lucky Life” (2010), which was an Official Tribeca Selection and “Abigail Harm” (2012), starring Amanda Plummer. Chung would later make “Minari,” which became an international sensation that garnered numerous awards and nominations, including six Academy Award nominations.

“Munyurandgabo” tells the story of a young Rwandan boy who steals a machete from a Kigali market and then goes on a journey with his friend to avenge the murder of his parents in the Rwandan genocide. Though they are from warring tribes, their friendship prevails. Bonus features on the disc include an audio commentary by Chung as well as behind-the-scenes footage, of this film that was shot in 2006 as a project for a class of 15 Rwandan film students who utilized local street kids and at-risk youth as their cast and crew on the production. The film is in Kiyarwandan with English subtitles.

“Lucky Life” is an English-language drama inspired by the poetry of Gerald Stern, in which a group of friends travel to the beach in hopes of encouraging one of them who is dying of cancer, though they don’t speak of his impending death. Much later, couple Mark and Karen plan to have a child, and the beach trip lingers as a haunting memory.

Plummer plays the title character in “Abigail Harm,” a lonely old woman who reads books to the blind and lives by herself on the outskirts of her city. Keeping her eyes turned away from everyone, she secretly watches, listens and hopes. One day, she recalls an old story about a woodcutter who saves the life of a mystical deer and is granted his wish for a companion. Before long, this ancient tale seems to come alive in Abigail’s own world where a stranger mysteriously appears in her apartment. The drama is inspired by the Korean fable “The Woodcutter and the Nymph.”

“The Early Films of Lee Isaac Chung” box set will be available for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $44.95. Each of the films also are available individually for $24.95 (SRP) each.

The Emperor’s Sword (Historic Drama)

“The Emperor’s Sword” arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Tuesday Nov. 9, from Well Go USA Entertainment.

After hiding a deadly sword that bestows great power upon its wielder, the emperor dies and a deranged rebel seizes power. Now, the young daughter of a great general is all that stands between a tyrant and his quest for domination. Co-directed by Yingli Zhang and Haonan Chen (“Thunder Chase”), “The Emperor’s Sword” stars Fengbin Mu (“Journey to the West”), Yilin Hao, Qihang Zhao and Qiyu Yang (“God of War”).

“The Emperor’s Sword” will be available on Blu-ray for $19.98 (SRP) and on DVD for $12.99 (SRP).

A Gift from Bob (Romantic Comedy)

From the director of “A Dog’s Way Home” and “Dolphin Tale” comes a heartwarming movie for the whole family, “A Gift from Bob,” arriving On Demand, Digital and DVD Tuesday Nov. 9, from Lionsgate and Saban Films.

Christmas gifts come in all shapes and sizes. For James (Luke Treadaway), a struggling street musician, a very special one arrives in the form of Bob, a strong-willed stray cat who wanders into James’s tiny flat. Bob enriches James’s life, giving him companionship, purpose, and a large, new audience. When Animal Welfare officers threaten to take Bob, the local community rallies to help James and Bob—sparking a journey that takes the pair to places they never imagined in this heartwarming, spirit-lifting movie for the whole family.

“A Gift from Bob” also is showing now in some theaters.

The Outsiders: The Complete Novel (Drama)

Warner Bros., StudioCanal and American Zoetrope will release “The Outsiders: The Complete Novel, a restored version of the hit 1983 Francis Ford Coppola drama, in a 4K UHD Collector’s Edition Tuesday Nov. 9. Additionally, the film will be released in its original cut and on digital platforms.

The American coming-of-age drama is by is based on S.E. Hinton’s celebrated book, and Coppola’s latest, definitive version includes new music, as well as several scenes cut from the theatrical version which were reconstructed from original camera negatives.

Based on Hinton’s 1967 best-selling young-adult novel, “The Outsiders” is considered the first “Brat Pack” movie, as it stars then-unknown young actors in many of their first break-through roles, including C. Thomas Howell (“E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”), Rob Lowe (“The West Wing,” “Parks and Recreation”), Emilio Estevez (“St. Elmo’s Fire,” “The Breakfast Club”), Matt Dillon (“Crash,” “There’s Something About Mary”), Tom Cruise (“Top Gun,” “Mission Impossible” franchise), Patrick Swayze (“Dirty Dancing,” “Point Break”), Ralph Macchio (“The Karate Kid,” “Cobra Kai”) and Diane Lane (“Unfaithful,” “Under the Tuscan Sun”), who went on to superstar-caliber careers.

Warner Bros. released the restored film theatrically in the U.S. and Canada earlier this fall. Additionally, “The Outsiders: The Complete Novel” will be available on HBO Max beginning on Nov. 16, and will also air this fall on Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

Said Coppola, “‘The Outsiders: The Complete Novel’ came about after meeting students over the years who repeatedly asked me why certain scenes from S.E. Hinton’s wonderful book were missing from the theatrical version. These questions reminded about my inspiration for the film—in 1980, a contingent of 12- to 14-year-old students wrote and asked me to make it. I listened to those young fans back then, and I continue to listen to young people now and believe in their opinions, so this complete film version of the novel is for them.”

Reminiscence (Suspense Thriller)

“Reminiscence” arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday Nov. 9, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

Hugh Jackman (“X-Men” franchise) stars as Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind, navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Rebecca Ferguson, ‘Doctor Sleep”). A simple matter of lost-and-found becomes a dangerous obsession. As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy, and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?

The film is directed by Lisa Joy (“Westworld”) from her own original screenplay and also co-stars Thandiwe Newton (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”), Cliff Curtis (“The Meg,” “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”), Oscar nominee Marina de Tavira (“Roma”), Daniel Wu (“Into the Badlands,” “Warcraft”), Mojean Aria (“See,” “Dead Lucky”), Brett Cullen (“Joker”), Natalie Martinez (“The Stand,” “The Fugitive”), Angela Sarafyan (“Westworld”) and Nico Parker (“Dumbo”).

Respect (Biopic)

Swan Song (Drama)

Legendary actor Udo Kier stars in the dramedy “Swan Song” arriving on DVD and Digital Tuesday Nov. 9, from Magnolia Home Entertainment.

Kier stars as Pat Pitsenbarger, a retired hairdresser who escapes the confines of his small-town Sandusky, Ohio nursing home after learning of his former client’s dying wish for him to style her final hairdo. Soon, Pat embarks on a comical and bittersweet odyssey across town to confront the ghosts of his past—and collect the beauty supplies necessary for the job. “Swan Song” is a comical and bittersweet journey about rediscovering one’s sparkle, and looking gorgeous while doing so.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Sixth Season (Action Fantasy)

The fate of the universe is in their hands as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment releases “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Sixth Season” on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday Nov. 9.

Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. The time ship Waverider’s crew have dealt with monsters, time anomalies and, most recently, villains from Hell, but this season they will face something even more challenging and bizarre—space aliens.

Emily in Paris: Season One (Romantic Comedy)

From Darren Star, the creator of “Sex and the City” and “Younger,” comes the delightfully fun and deliciously frisky new comedy “Emily in Paris: Season One,” arriving on DVD Nov. 9, from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Snowpiercer: The Complete Second Season (Action Drama)

Younger: The Complete Series (Comedy)

Available on DVD for the first time ever, Darren Star’s “Younger: The Complete Series” arrives in a deluxe 10-disc set on Nov. 9, from Paramount Home Entertainment.

With an unforgettable seven-season run, the series garnered raves from critics for its witty and riveting storylines. The show stars two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster with Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, Miriam Shor, Nico Tortorella, Peter Hermann, Molly Bernard and Charles Michael Davis. The seventh season of “Younger” debuted on ViacomCBS’ streaming platform, Paramount+, earlier this year. The final season is currently airing weekly on TV Land, making it the brand’s longest-running original series.
