“Advocate,” a powerful documentary about a controversial Israeli attorney, arrives on DVD and VOD Tuesday June 9, from Film Movement.

A political firebrand in her home country, Israeli defense attorney Lea Tsemel is known by opponents as “the devil’s advocate,” for her decades-long defense of Palestinians who have been accused of resisting the occupation, both violently and non-violently. “Advocate,” from filmmakers Rachel Leah Jones and Phillipe Bellaïche, both captures Tsemel in cinema verité fashion fighting on behalf of her clients in Israel’s two-tier justice system and delves into Tsemel’s history revisiting her landmark cases.

The film exposes the human fallout of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and provides hope for a just resolution. It was nominated for a Grand Jury Award at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and is available on DVD and Digital for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $24.95.

TV Shows

Modern Family: The Complete Series and Modern Family: Season 11

Hot on the heels of the long-awaited series finale, experience the funniest and most heartwarming moments all over again with “Modern Family: The Complete Series” is now available on Digital, and own “Modern Family Season 11” on DVD Tuesday June 9, from Twentieth-Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Welcome to one of TV’s most acclaimed comedy series ever – about the diverse, complex, and sometimes nutty Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family. The family is headed by Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill), who is now married to his second wife, the young, gorgeous Gloria (Sofia Vergara), assumed by some to be his daughter. In their loving care is Gloria’s daydreaming son Manny (Rico Rodriguez). Jay’s driven daughter Claire (Julie Bowen) and her real estate agent husband Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) want an open, healthy relationship with their three kids, which isn’t always easy. Their oldest daughter Haley (Sarah Hyland) grows up a little too fast.

She moves out, and then moves back in again…with her fiancé and their twin babies. Middle child Alex (Ariel Winter) is a too-smart-for-her-own-good daughter, and the youngest, Luke (Nolan Gould), is a rambunctious son. Where Phil wants to be the “cool dad,” Claire is determined to keep her kids from walking in the wayward footsteps of her younger days. Jay’s very serious son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and his gregarious husband Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) become doting parents to Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons), the sweet Vietnamese girl they adopt. Though life isn’t always tidy, politically correct or predictable, it’s always loving, heartwarming and hilarious for this blended, extended family.

In Season 11, Haley and Dylan and the twins move in with Phil and Claire, Manny heads for college, Alex tries out life beyond academics, and Luke seeks his next move. Mitch and Cam try to understand their gifted teen, and Jay and Gloria navigate their now seasoned marriage as the large family lives, loves and laughs in the acclaimed series’ final season.

The Outsider: The Complete First Season

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release the murder crime mystery series “The Outsider: The Complete First Season” on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday July 28. It also is available now on Digital via purchase from all major digital retailers.

In addition to all 10 episodes of “Outsider: The Complete First Season,” which airs on HBO, features over 40 minutes of behind-the-scenes bonus content including the all-new featurette “El Cuco. The Baby Yaga. The Outsider.” In this never-before-seen featurette you can dive deep into the real-world origins and supernatural abilities of the being at the center of the series with compelling insights from the creators and cast.

Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same name, “The Outsider” follows a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy. When 11-year-old Frankie Peterson’s body is found mutilated in the Georgia woods, police detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn) sets out to investigate—with eyewitnesses and physical evidence pointing to Terry Maitland (Jason Bateman), a popular high school teacher, Little League coach, doting husband and father. While the case appears ironclad, Ralph is baffled by the emergence of contradictory evidence that places his suspect in a neighboring city at the time of the murder.

The mysterious set of circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, a seasoned cop still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.

The three-disc DVD set will be available for $29.99 (SRP) and the Blu-ray will be available for $39.99 (SRP).
