Black Hawk Down (Action, Drama, History)

Bring home the action favorite “Black Hawk Down” as a limited-edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook with Dolby Vision Tuesday, Nov. 7, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (“The Martian”) and renowned producer Jerry Bruckheimer (“Pearl Harbor”) comes the gripping true story about bravery, camaraderie and the complex reality of war. In 1993, an elite group of American Rangers and Delta Force soldiers are sent to Somalia on a critical mission to capture a violent warlord whose corrupt regime has led to the starvation of hundreds of thousands of Somalis. When the mission goes quickly and terribly wrong, the men find themselves outnumbered and literally fighting for their lives.

“Black Hawk Down” stars an exceptional cast, including Josh Hartnett (“Pearl Harbor”), Ewan McGregor (“Trainspotting”) and Eric Bana (“Hulk”). The 4K Ultra HD disc included with the SteelBook release features the theatrical and extended versions of the film presented in 4K resolution from the original camera negative, both with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and 5.1 audio. The Blu-ray disc included with the release features the theatrical version of the film presented in high definition as well as plenty of special features, including three audio commentary tracks, eight deleted and alternate scenes with optional commentary, the documentary “The Essence of Combat: Making ‘Black Hawk Down,’” Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Black Hawk Down” photo album, photo galleries, theatrical poster concepts, the “Designing Mogadishu” featurette, The History Channel Presents: “The True Story of ‘Black Hawk Down,’” PBS Presents: “Frontline: Ambush in Mogadishu” and more.

Gran Turismo (Action, Adventure, Drama)

The inspiring, thrilling and action-packed story that proves that nothing is impossible when you’re fueled from within, “Gran Turismo” races onto 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Nov. 7, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is also now available to own on Digital.

“Gran Turismo” is based on the unbelievable true story of a team of unlikely underdogs: a struggling working-class gamer (Archie Madekwe, “Midsommar”), a failed former racecar driver (David Harbour, “Black Widow”) and an idealistic motorsport executive (Orlando Bloom, “The Lord of the Rings” franchise). Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the world.

Special features on the release include two behind-the-scenes featurettes: “The Plan: The True Story of Jann Mardenborough” and “The Wheels: The Fast-Acting Cast.” The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital releases also include three additional behind-the-scenes featurettes — “The Engine: Driving the Visuals,” “The Garage: The Amazing Automobiles” and “The Pit Crew: Action and Stunts” — as well as deleted and extended scenes.

The Guns of Navarone (Action, Adventure, Drama)

The action-packed classic “The Guns of Navarone” releases as a limited-edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook with Dolby Vision Tuesday, Nov. 7, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Academy Award winners Gregory Peck (“To Kill a Mockingbird”), David Niven (“Separate Tables”) and Anthony Quinn (“Lust for Life,” “Viva Zapata!”) star as a team of Allied military specialists recruited for a dangerous but imperative mission: to infiltrate a Nazi-occupied fortress and disable two long-range field guns so that 2,000 trapped British soldiers may be rescued. Faced with an unforgiving sea voyage, hazardous terrain and the possibility of a traitor among them, the team must overcome the impossible without losing their own lives.

Adapted by screenwriter Carl Foreman (“High Noon”) from Alistair MacLean’s best-selling novel, “The Guns of Navarone” was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture, and won for Best Special Effects. The 4K Ultra HD disc included with the SteelBook release features the film presented in 4K resolution from the original camera negative, with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio + 5.1 audio + 4.0 audio. Playback is also available with and without the Original Roadshow Intermission Card. Extras on the disc include the movie’s theatrical trailer and a Main Title Progression Reel.

The Blu-ray disc included with the release, meanwhile, includes the feature film presented in high definition — sourced from the 4K master — plus several special features. Extras include eight behind-the-scenes featurettes (“Epic Restoration,” “A Heroic Score,” “Great Guns,” “No Visitors,” “Honeymoon on Rhodes,” “Two Girls on the Town,” “Narration-Free Prologue” and “Message from Carl Foreman”), three documentaries (“Forging ‘The Guns of Navarone’: Notes from the Set,” “An Ironic Epic of Heroism” and “Memories of ‘Navarone’”), two audio commentaries (one by director J. Lee Thompson and the other by film historian Stephen J. Rubin) and the interactive feature “The Resistance Dossier of ‘Navarone.’”

The holiday spirit returns with “Lifetime’s A Very Merry Movie Collection: Volume 5,” arriving on DVD Tuesday, Nov. 7, from Lionsgate.

Scrooged (Comedy, Drama, Fantasy)

Comedy legend Bill Murray stars in the uproarious classic “Scrooged,” arriving for the first time ever on 4K Ultra HD Tuesday, Nov. 7, from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Originally released on Nov. 23, 1988, “Scrooged” is an outrageously funny take on a beloved Dickens tale that has become a perennial holiday favorite. The high-spirited and biting comedy follows a television executive with a heart of stone and features an all-star cast including Karen Allen, John Forsythe, Bobcat Goldthwait, Carol Kane, Robert Mitchum and Alfre Woodard.

Frank Cross (Murray, “Groundhog Day”) is an uncaring and unforgiving television executive whose live production of “A Christmas Carol” is more important to him than any true meaning of Christmas. Before the night is over, he’ll take a hilarious journey through his past and into the future to find redemption and put a little love in his heart.

The new release includes the remastered film in sparkling 4K Ultra HD, access to a Digital copy of the movie, as well as more than 50 minutes of never-before-released special features. Viewers can take a journey with the Ghost of Christmas Past to discover behind-the-scenes featurettes and an insightful commentary by director Richard Donner (“The Goonies”), now on disc for the first time. Extras include “A Christmas to Remember,” “Updating Ebenezer,” “Bringing the Ghosts to Life,” “The Look of ‘Scrooged,’” “On the Set with Bill Murray,” ShoWest clips with Bill Murray and the aforementioned commentary track by Donner.

Warhorse One (Action, Drama, War)

The action-packed wartime adventure “Warhorse One” debuts on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Nov. 7, from Well Go USA Entertainment.

“Warhorse One” follows a desperate civilian rescue attempt set in motion shortly after the 2021 withdrawal of the United States military from Afghanistan. After a SEAL team helicopter is downed en route to the rendezvous point, the lone surviving operator must evade hostile insurgents and navigate treacherous terrain while guiding his one remaining charge — a traumatized young girl — to safety.

Co-directed by first-time director Johnny Strong and veteran William Kaufman (“The Hit List”), “Warhorse One” stars Johnny Strong (“Black Hawk Down”), newcomer Athena Durner, Raj Kala (“Black Adam”), newcomer James Sherrill and Siya Rostami (“Black Easter”). Bonus features on the release include a director’s commentary featurette and the film’s trailer.
