Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (Drama)

Everything has led to this moment. A farewell fit for high society and just scandalous enough for drawing room gossip, Focus Features’ “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” comes home on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Nov. 11, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is also now available to own on Digital.

Based on Carnival Films’ Emmy Award-winning television series “Downton Abbey,” the cinematic return of the global phenomenon follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s. When Mary (Michelle Dockery, “The Gentlemen”) finds herself at the center of a public scandal and the family faces financial trouble, the entire household grapples with the threat of social disgrace. The Crawleys must embrace change as the staff prepares for a new chapter with the next generation leading Downton Abbey into the future.

“Downton Abbey” fans can relive moments of refined humor, luxury fashion and heartfelt conversation with plenty of exclusive content on “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale,” including a feature commentary with director Simon Curtis (“My Week with Marilyn”) and actress Elizabeth McGovern (“Once Upon a Time in America”) and four featurettes that explore everything from the grandeur of high society settings and the details that went into bringing historical authenticity to the film to heartfelt messages from the cast and filmmakers as they express their immense gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support and love for the franchise. Featurettes include “Changing Times,” “Society Season,” “Authentic to the Core” and “A Farewell to Fans.” The Digital, 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases also include the exclusive extra “‘Downton Abbey’ Celebrates ‘The Grand Finale,’” where the cast shares stories, confessions and music as they bring their “Downton” journey to a close with a toast to the third and final film.

For the ultimate “Downton Abbey” fan, “Downton Abbey: The Ultimate Legacy Collection” will also be available to own on Blu-ray Tuesday, Nov. 11, featuring all three “Downton Abbey” films, six TV seasons and more than 13 hours of bonus content. The exclusive 24-disc set comes within an elegant 52-page book featuring a special foreword by “Downton Abbey” creator, writer and producer Julian Fellowes (“The Gilded Age”) that includes behind-the-scenes photos, costume and set design sketches and more.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Drama)

Just in time for the film’s 50th anniversary on Nov. 19, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” will be available to purchase for the first time in 4K Ultra HD on Digital and on 4K UHD Blu-ray disc Tuesday, Nov. 11, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

A feisty misfit sent to a mental hospital inspires his fellow patients to assert themselves — much to the chagrin of the strong-willed head nurse, who turns out to be more dangerous than any of the inmates.

Based on the novel of the same name by author Ken Kesey, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” is considered by critics and audiences to be one of the greatest movies ever made. The film features an all-star cast, including Jack Nicholson (“As Good as It Gets”), Louise Flether (“Flowers in the Attic”), Will Sampson (“Poltergeist II: The Other Side”), Danny DeVito (“Batman Returns”), William Redfield (“Death Wish”), Brad Dourif (“Child’s Play”) and Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future”), with the latter two making their feature film debuts. The movie won all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture – Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz; Best Actor – Jack Nicholson; Best Actress – Louise Fletcher; Director – Miloš Forman; and Screenplay – Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman) and in 1993, it was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Both 4K Ultra HD releases contain two new special features. Viewers can listen to producer Michael Douglas (“Wall Street”) lead a star-studded conversation with Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and Brad Dourif on the unorthodox casting process that launched the careers of the famous ensemble 50 years ago in “Conversations on Cuckoo: Group Therapy” and hear Douglas, DeVito, Lloyd and Dourif share memories of filming the Academy Award-winning film and working with Jack Nicholson and director Miloš Forman (“Amadeus”) in “Conversations on Cuckoo: Moviemaking Memories.” Additionally, five previously released deleted scenes (“Pecking Party,” “Where are Your Clothes?,” “Meet Nurse Ratched,” “First Group Therapy” and “Shaving Chief”) are included with each release as well as the previously released featurette “Completely Cuckoo,” which offers viewers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, tracing the path from Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel to the 1963 Broadway play starring Kirk Douglas to the 1975 film that would sweep that year’s Academy Awards .
