HOLLYWOOD—Chris Weitz, Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, Helen Shaver, Rob Marshall, Jacqueline Bisset, Gena Rowlands, Rita Wilson, Kurt Russell, John Carpenter, Norman Lear and Alex Trebek are just some of the notable stars expected to take part in the 10th annual TCM Classic Film Festival scheduled for April 11-14 in Hollywood.
The event celebrates classic movies as they were meant to be seen—on the big screen. This year marks not only the 10th year of the annual Los Angeles-area event, which draws movie lovers from around the world, but also marks the 25th anniversary of TCM, the cable channel that shows these beloved favorites and others throughout the year.
Films will be screened in theaters around Hollywood, including the historic TCL Chinese Theatre as well as the nearby Egyptian, Legion Theatre at Post 43, as well as the Arclight Cinemas’ Cinerama Dome and others.
Among the dozens of classic films to be screened: “All Through the Night,” starring Humphrey Bogart,” The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer,” starring Shirley Temple, “Broadway Danny Rose,” starring (and directed and written by) Woody Allen, Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” David O. Selznick’s “Gone with the Wind,” Robert Altman’s “Nashville,” Steven Spielberg’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Sleepless in Seattle,” starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, “A Woman Under the Influence,” starring Gena Rowland and many more.
Among the anticipated highlights of this year’s festival, comedian/actor/Academy Awards host Billy Crystal will be honored with a handprint and footprint ceremony, with a tribute by filmmaker/actor Rob Reiner. The event is set for Friday, April 12 in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre, 6925 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood.
In addition to numerous screenings throughout the four-day event, there will be discussions led by film experts and industry insiders throughout.
