A Nightmare on Elm Street (Horror)

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the hit supernatural slasher film, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” will be available to own on 4K UHD Blu-ray Tuesday, Oct. 15, from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The movie is also now available to purchase on Digital in 4K Ultra HD.

Can your nightmares be fatal? In this classic of the horror film genre that launched a movie franchise, a hideously scarred man who was murdered by a lynch mob returns years later in the terrifying nightmares of his killers’ teenage children — and the dreaming teenagers are starting to die in their sleep. Directed by Wes Craven (“Scream”) from his own screenplay, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” stars John Saxon (“Enter the Dragon”), Ronee Blakely (“Nashville”), Heather Langenkamp (“Just the Ten of Us”), Amanda Wyss (“Highlander”), Johnny Depp (the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise) and Robert Englund (“V”) as Freddy Krueger.

The 4K UHD remaster of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” includes both the 1984 theatrical version of the film and an uncut version of the film that includes 8 seconds of additional unrated footage. It also includes the following previously released special features: a commentary with Wes Craven, co-stars Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp and Ronnie Blakely, producer Robert Shaye (“The Last Mimzy”) and co-producer Sara Risher (“Hairspray”); a commentary with Wes Craven, co-stars Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon and cinematographer Jacques Haitkin (“A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge”); alternate endings; three featurettes — “The House that Freddy Built: The Legacy of New Line Horror,” “Never Sleep Again: The Making of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’” and “Night Terrors: The Origins of Wes Craven’s Nightmares” — and Ready Freddy Focus Points, where viewers can see alternate takes and learn filmmaking secrets behind the nightmare by jumping to video highlights while watching the movie.

Sideways (Comedy, Drama, Romance)

In honor of the 20th anniversary of writer/director Alexander Payne’s Academy Award-winning film (Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay), “Sideways” is now available to own on Digital in 4K from Fox Searchlight Pictures.

A wine tasting road trip to salute a bachelor’s final days careens woefully sideways as he and his buddy hit the gas en route to mid-life crises.

“Sideways” stars Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”), Thomas Haden Church (“Spider-Man 3”), Virginia Madsen (“The Haunting in Connecticut”) and Sandra Oh (“Grey’s Anatomy”).
