I Hate New Year’s

Filmed in Nashville, the holiday rom-com stars actress/singers Dia Frampton (runner-up in the inaugural season of “The Voice” and lead singer of the band Meg & Dia) and Ashley Argota (“The Fosters,” “Lab Rats,”), as well as Candis Cayne (“The Magicians,” “Grey’s Anatomy”) in a magical, dual role.

Featuring a soulful, high-energy, original soundtrack from award-winning composer Emer Kinsella, with five songs penned by Billy Steinberg and Josh Alexander, also known for their collaborations on Jojo’s “Too Little Too Late” and Demi Lovato’s “Give Your Heart a Break.” Steinberg is among the most successful songwriters of the past 35 years, co-writing five No. 1 singles on “Billboard’s” Hot 100 chart, including songs for Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston and The Bangles.

“I Hate New Year’s” features electric music performances by Frampton (“Flatline,” “Better in the Dark”), Argota (“Hours of the Night”), Frampton and Argota in a duet (“Our One Heart”) and bluesy, Nashville artist and 2015 “American Idol” competitor Gina Venier (“If I Was Your Girl”).

From Tello Films and DASH Productions, “I Hate New Year’s” was directed by Christin Baker from a screenplay by Kathryn Trammell, based on a story by Baker, Ashely Arnold, Danielle Jablonski and Kathryn Trammell.

For thousands of years, the fighters that protect Earth have won—until now. When celebrated war hero Jake Barnes (Moussi) is defeated by Brax, the indomitable leader of the invaders, the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Injured and suffering from amnesia, Jake is rescued by Wyle (Cage), Keung (Tony Jaa) and his team of fellow Jiu Jitsu fighters. Restored, re-edited and remixed from the original film reels and master tapes, the 1988 film was filmed at the Nassau Coliseum (Long Island, N.Y.) and features David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright at their incendiary best. This engrossing and uplifting event uses an innovative mix of lighting and staging, balancing the then-new material and classic Pink Floyd songs.

The tracks include “Learning to Fly,” “On the Turning Away,” “Us and Them,” “Comfortably Numb” and “Wish You Were Here.” The concert film also has 30 minutes of additional footage with five tracks not seen on the original release.
