A Clear Shot

“A Clear Shot” arrives on DVD and Digital Tuesday June 2, from Uncork’d Entertainment.

The action drama, inspired by actual events, follows a bizarre turn of events when four thieves take customers and employees at a store hostage in Sacramento, Calif. The PD’s top negotiator realizes he needs to talk down the gunmen and keep everyone safe, all while juggling political forces around him. The gunmen leader doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but his brother is a different story. A negotiated peaceful surrender quickly turns this sleepy city into a national tragedy.

From writer-director Nick Leisure, the film stars Mario Van Peebles (“New Jack City,” “Posse”), Mandela Van Peebles (“Jigsaw”), Jessica Meza (“General Hospital”), David Fernandez Jr (“End of Watch”), Marshal Hilton (“Echoes of Fear”) and Glenn Plummer (“Sons of Anarchy.”

Jaws: 45th Anniversary Limited Edition

In 1975, director Steven Spielberg created the first-ever summer blockbuster film and his first big hit, “Jaws.” The iconic and terrifying action-thriller still makes audiences afraid to go in the water nearly a half-century later.

When the seaside community of Amity finds itself under attack by a dangerous great white shark, the town’s chief of police (Roy Scheider), a young marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss) and a grizzled shark hunter (Robert Shaw) embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast before it strikes again. It features an unforgettable score by John Williams that evokes pure terror.

Winner of three Academy Awards, including Best Original Score, “Jaws” has become a cinematic touchstone for generations of moviegoers and one of the greatest and most influential films of all time. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment celebrates with the “Jaws: 45th Anniversary Limited Edition” available on 4K Ultra HD for the first time ever Tuesday June 2.

This limited-edition Combo Pack with lenticular packaging includes a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital code of the film, along with more than three hours of bonus features and a 44-page booklet with introductions, rare photos, storyboards and more from the archives. Dive into hours of bonus features including the making of “Jaws,” deleted scenes, outtakes from set and more.

One Cut of the Dead

RLJE Films, a unit of AMC Networks, has picked up select rights to “One Cut of the Dead,” which will be released Tuesday June 2 on DVD and DVD/Blu-ray SteelBook.

While shooting a low-budget zombie film in an abandoned warehouse, the crew find themselves caught between actual zombies and a mad director who won’t stop rolling. Filmmaker Ueda turns the film on its head more than once for a wild, hilarious, and surprising zombie movie.

Written and directed by Shin’ichirô Ueda (“Special Actors”), the horror/comedy stars Harumi Shuhama (“Ichigo no uta”), Takayuki Hamatsu (“Followers”) and Yuzuki Akiyama (“Kamen raida Jio”). The film is based on the play, “Ghost in the Box!” written by Ryoichi Wada.  Extras include outtakes, a POM! “Instructional video” and more.

RLJE Films will release “One Cut of the Dead” on DVD for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $27.97 and on DVD/Blu-ray SteelBook for $34.97 (SRP).

Working Man

The drama “Working Man,” arrives on DVD Tuesday June 2, from Brainstorm Media and Passion River.

When the last factory in a small Rust Belt town closes its doors, an unlikely hero emerges in dutiful, quiet Allery Parkes (Peter Gerety). A longtime employee of the factory, the aging Allery can’t reconcile how to live a life simply sitting at home doing nothing, and against the advice and pleas of his loving wife, Iola (Talia Shire), he forms an unlikely friendship with his charismatic neighbor, Walter Brewer (Billy Brown), in order to revive the defunct factory. As their community rallies around them—and as their former corporate bosses strategize how to implode this unexpected movement—Allery learns that he might be something he never thought possible: a leader.
“Working Man” is written and directed by Robert Jury. The film’s ensemble cast is comprised of Chicago talent, including Bea Cordelia (“The T”), Patrese McClain (“Widows”), Kristen Fitzgerald (the upcoming “Killing Eleanor”) and J. Salome Martinez (“The Messenger”). Currently is available on VOD, “Working Man” will be available on DVD for $24.95 (SRP).

TV Shows

Blood: Series 2

Acorn TV features the DVD/Blu-ray debut of Acorn TV Original acclaimed suspenseful Irish drama, “Blood: Series 2,” Tuesday June 2.

The popular mystery stars BAFTA nominee Adrian Dunbar (“Line of Duty”) as Jim Hogan, a once respected, tormented ex-doctor in a small Irish town, with three adult children.

Following the first series, in which his wife died, and everyone believed it was an accident except his daughter, Hogan returns home a year later, stripped of his medical license and determined to make amends to reconnect with his family. His eldest daughter Fiona Crowley (Gràinne Keenan, “Victoria,”
“The Foreigner”) is ailing, slowly succumbing to the same debilitating illness that afflicted her mother.

Hogan is determined efforts to make amends and help his ailing family only seem to add to their grief, and things worsen when he stumbles upon suspicious activity at the farm where his son-in law Paul (Ian Lloyd Anderson, “Love/Hate”) works. When Fiona’s car veers off the road and crashes into a canal, a disturbing discovery is found. As the police start investigating, shocking secrets emerge that deepen the rift within the family and derail Hogan’s chance at a fresh start.

Series 2 of “Blood” premiered on Acorn TV in March. The two-disc DVD or Blu-ray set ($39.99, Amazon.com) contains all six episodes as well as interviews and a Q&A with the cast.

Blue’s Clues & You!

“Blue’s Clues & You!” will be available on DVD exclusively from Walmart Tuesday June 2, from Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon’s hit interactive preschool series will feature four episodes from the children’s series debut season. The series follows beloved puppy Blue and live-action host Josh (Josh Dela Cruz) as they invite a new generation of preschoolers on clue-led adventures and solve a puzzle in each episode.
In the “Blue’s Clues & You!” DVD collection, fans can help Josh solve games of Blue’s Clues as he tries to figure out what Blue wants for a snack, what present she wants for her birthday, what she would like to do on her playdate and more. The DVD will also include special episodes from Josh & Blue’s VLOG and eight bonus American Sign Language flashcards.
“Blue’s Clues & You!” will be available from Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment exclusively at Walmart for $10.99 (SRP). The series will be available at other retailers Sept. 1.
