Like a lot of comedians, Gabriel Iglesias’ stand up act is rooted in personal pain. Raised by his mom, the San Diego native grew up without a father. Over the years, he has struggled with weight issues and was diagnosed earlier this year with diabetes. Yet the comedian, who grew up wanting to be Eddie Murphy, has turned those obstacles into material for his act, which has resulted in a successful career. Of Mexican-American heritage, Iglesias pours out his heart and soul on stage with an intended result: laughs.

While he has recorded other standup performances that have aired on cable TV, his “The Fluffy Movie,” a standup comedy concert recorded earlier this year over two nights at the SAP Center stadium in San Jose, is available Tuesday, Oct. 21, on Blu-ray Combo Pack from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Released in theaters in July, the filmed comedy performance currently is already available on Digital HD.

For the uninitiated, “fluffy” is a term Iglesias uses for his size, as in, “I’m not fat, I’m fluffy.”

In the film, which opens with a vignette about how, as a kid, he was turned on to comedy, Iglesias talks about his diagnosis and doctor-mandated weight loss, missing fast food, traveling to India to perform for the first time, being a stepfather figure to his girlfriend’s teenage son, losing his mom and meeting his estranged father, among other topics. Having shed 100 pounds by changing his diet, he admits that losing weight is a daily struggle, but he’s coping with it.

The Blu-ray Combo Pack includes a Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD with UltraViolet.

For “My Little Pony” fans, an all-new full-length film, “My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks,” is available on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Oct. 28 from Shout! Factory Kids in collaboration with Hasbro Studios. Bonus features include an audio commentary, eight prequel shorts and sing-alongs.

The story begins with Twilight Spark’s crown being stolen from the Crystal Empire. Twilight follows the thief, Sunset Shimmer, into an alternate world where she finds herself turned into a teenage girl. To regain her crown and return to Equestria, Twilight has to learn how to fit into this strange new world and defeat Sunset Shimmer in a competition to become crowned Princess of the Fall Formal at Canterlot High School (CHS).

The school is hosting a musical showcase and Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Fluttershy want to perform with their band, The Rainbooms. But when The Dazzlings, a new girl group, arrive at CHS and convince everyone to turn the friendly showcase into a Battle of the Bands, tensions mount between the competing musical acts.

The now-reformed Sunset Shimmer realized The Dazzlings may not be ordinary girls and are after something far more sinister than just being named Best Band at CHS. The Rainbooms call on Princess Twilight to restore harmony to their world to help them perform a musical counter-spell so they can win a battle that now determines the fate of the whole school.
