Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Action, Adventure, Comedy)

The galaxy’s favorite band of misfits are back for one final adventure in Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” debuting on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, August 1. The film is also now available on Digital and will be streaming on Disney+ Aug. 2.

In “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” our beloved band of misfits is looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt, “Jurassic World”), still reeling from a terrible loss, must rally his team and embark on a dicey, action-packed mission to defend the universe and protect Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper, “A Star is Born”). Meanwhile, a new, unpredictable force threatens to bring the Guardians down for good.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” features exclusive bonus content on Digital, 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, including eight deleted scenes, a 5-minute gag reel and a feature-length audio commentary by writer/director James Gunn. Two featurettes are also included. In “The Imperfect, Perfect Family,” viewers can relive the evolution of the Guardians as the tight knit “found family” recounts their best memories wrapping up the epic trilogy’s final film. Then, in “Creating Rocket Raccoon,” viewers can hear how Gunn brought Rocket to life and how personal the character is to him.

The Little Mermaid (Adventure, Family, Fantasy)

Make “The Little Mermaid” a part of your world, as Disney’s live-action retelling is now available to own on Digital from Walt Disney Studios. The film also releases on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Sept. 19.

“The Little Mermaid” is visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s (“Chicago”) live-action reimagining of Disney’s beloved animated musical classic, the story of Ariel (Halle Bailey, “Grown-ish”), a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s (Javier Bardem, “No Country for Old Men”) daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King, “A Dog’s Way Home”). While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula (Melissa McCarthy, “Bridesmaids”), which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life — and her father’s crown — in jeopardy.

Fans who add the film to their Digital collection can access exclusive bonus features, including a sing-along version of the movie, song breakdowns for “Wild Uncharted Waters,” “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” bloopers and two featurettes: “The Scuttlebutt on Sidekicks” and “Passing the Dinglehopper.” The Digital release also includes a five-part, making-of documentary — “Hotter Under the Water” — that details everything from how “The Little Mermaid’s” underwater world was created to casting and writing new songs for the film.

My Best Friend is a Vampire (Comedy, Horror, Romance)

For the first time, “My Best Friend is a Vampire” is available to own on Blu-ray from Lionsgate as part of the Vestron Video Collector’s Series.

Return to Milton High School in this beloved ’80s teen comedy. Shortly after high school student Jeremy Capello (Robert Sean Leonard, “Dead Poets Society”) goes on a hot date, he finds he can’t stand garlic and can’t see his reflection in mirrors, but he can make a delicious raw-steak shake. As maniac vampire hunter Professor McCarthy (Primetime Emmy Award winner David Warner, “Masada”) stakes him out, Jeremy just wants to pursue his high school crush.

Also starring Rene Auberjonois (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”) with an appearance by Oscar winner Kathy Bates (“Misery”), “My Best Friend is a Vampire” features brand-new box artwork for the digitally restored Blu-ray release as well as all-new special features. Extras include an audio commentary with director Jimmy Huston (“Final Exam”) and film historian Nathaniel Thompson, an interview with actor Paul Wilson (“Gabbing with Grimsdyke”), a conversation with writer and associate producer Tab Murphy (“Gorillas in the Mist”) and production executive Ken Aguado (“A Most Alternative Lifestyle”), the film’s theatrical and teaser trailers, a still gallery and a Digital copy of the movie.
