Sonic, Knuckles and Tails return for their most epic adventure yet in the blockbuster hit “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” racing onto 4K Ultra HD and DVD Tuesday, April 15, from Paramount Home Entertainment. The action-comedy family adventure will also be available to purchase in two collectible 4K Ultra HD SteelBooks while supplies last and is now available to own on Digital.
In “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz, “Parks and Recreation”), Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba, “Beasts of No Nation”) and Tails (voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey, “Danny Phantom”) reunite to face a new formidable foe, Shadow (voiced by Keanu Reeves, “John Wick”) — a mysterious hedgehog with powers unlike anything they’ve ever seen. Team Sonic must secure an unexpected alliance if they hope to stop Shadow and save the planet.
Directed by Jeff Fowler, who has directed all three films in the series, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” also stars Jim Carrey (“Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”), Krysten Ritter (“Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23”), Natasha Rothwell (“Insecure”), Shemar Moore (“Criminal Minds”), James Marsden (“X-Men”) and Tika Sumpter (“Mixed-ish”).
Fans who purchase the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray Combo Pack or the Digital release of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” will have access to a commentary track by director Jeff Fowler and the voice of Sonic, Ben Schwartz, as well as plenty of other fun-filled bonus content, including deleted scenes and a gag reel. Viewers can hear from Jim Carrey and the “Sonic” family about how the characters of Ivo and Gerald Robotnik were brought to life in “Robotnik Family Reunion: Ivo and Gerald;” listen to Keanu Reeves and other cast members talk about Reeves’ portrayal of the fan-favorite character Shadow the Hedgehog in “Enter Shadow;” explore the production designs for the film’s many spectacular locations in “From the Cryo-Tank to London: The World of Sonic;” find out what it’s like to act alongside life-sized puppets in “Live-Action Lunacy: Acting Opposite Puppets;” and join Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey in the recording booth in “The Fox, the Echidna and the Hedgehog.” The behind-the-scenes featurettes “Sonic Family Fun,” “For the Love of Sonic: Directing a Trilogy” and “Team Sonic vs. Shadow;” the animated short “A Very Sonic Christmas;” and the Digital exclusive “Sonic Central” round out the extras.
