In honor of the film’s upcoming 40th anniversary, “Little Shop of Horrors” is now available to own for the first time in 4K resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR) on Digital and as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

A comedy, a love story and a cult classic starring a giant singing plant from outer space, “Little Shop of Horrors” remains one of the greatest movie musicals of all time. Seymour (Rick Moranis, “Spaceballs”) — an orphan and nerd who works in a run-down flower shop on Skid Row — spends his time doing menial tasks and dreaming of his co-worker, Audrey (Ellen Greene, “Léon: The Professional”). Then, one day, just after a “total eclipse of the sun,” Seymour discovers a strange plant. The exotic plant draws customers, saves the flower shop from bankruptcy and makes Seymour a hero in Audrey’s eyes. But the plant has a rather unique appetite — and it’s getting interested in Audrey, too.

An adaptation of the off-Broadway musical by composer Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast”) and writer Howard Ashman (“The Little Mermaid”), “Little Shop of Horrors” features an all-star ensemble cast, including Vincent Gardenia (“Moonstruck”), Steve Martin (“Only Murders in the Building”), Tisha Campbell (“Martin”), Tichina Arnold (“Everybody Hates Chris”), Jim Belushi (“K-9”), John Candy (“Uncle Buck”), Christopher Guest (“Best in Show”) and Bill Murray (“Groundhog Day”). The film was nominated for Best Original Song (“Mean Green Mother from Outer Space”) and Best Visual Effects at the 59th Academy Awards.

The newly remastered movie includes both the Theatrical and Director’s Cuts of the film, as well as all-new bonus content featuring the cast and filmmakers reflecting on the making of “Little Shop of Horrors” 40 years later. Viewer can listen to visionary director Frank Oz (“The Dark Crystal”) and star Ellen Greene share behind-the-scenes memories from the making of the film and explore what has kept it a beloved classic for 40 years in the new 14-minute featurette “To Feed or Not to Feed: For the Love of ‘Little Shop,’” and hear Oz, Greene, special visual effects artist Bran Ferren (“Star Trek V: The Final Frontier”) and model supervisor Richard Conway (“Brazil”) share memories and stories about the world’s most famous man-eating plant — Audrey II — in the new 8-minute featurette “Mean Green Mother — Creating Audrey II.” Additionally, several previously released extras are included on both 4K releases, including 8 minutes of outtakes and deleted scenes with optional commentary by Frank Oz, the 22-minute Director’s Cut ending with optional commentary by Frank Oz, the featurettes “A Story of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’” and “Frank Oz and ‘Little Shop of Horrors:’ The Director’s Cut,” and the film’s theatrical and teaser trailers. A previously released theatrical commentary track with Frank Oz rounds out the extras on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc.
