‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife,’ ‘Spine of Night,’ ‘Wayne’s World,’ More Arrive on Home Entertainment This Week

Deadlock (Action)
“Deadlock” arrives on DVD Tuesday Feb. 1, from Saban Films.
Bruce Willis stars as Ron Whitlock, a wanted criminal leading a team of mercenaries on a mission of vengeance. Convinced that the government is working against them, the merciless group brutally seizes an energy plant and holds everyone inside hostage. With a nearby town on the brink of massive flooding and destruction, it’s up to retired elite army ranger Mack Karr (Patrick Muldoon) to save thousands of innocent lives before it’s too late.
The film is directed by Jared Cohn from a screenplay he wrote with Cam Cannon. In addition to the DVD release, “Deadlock” also available now on Digital and On Demand.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Horror Comedy)
From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman comes the next chapter in the original “Ghostbusters” universe, available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Tuesday Feb. 1, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
In “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather, an original Ghostbuster, left behind. The film is written by Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman.
The film stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace and Paul Rudd, and features some of the original cast from “Ghostbusters.”
The home entertainment edition of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” is chock full of bonus features including Easter eggs, “‘Ghostbusters’: A Look Back,” “Bringing Ecto-1 Back to Life,” deleted scenes and more.
Also available Tuesday is “Ghostbusters: Ultimate Collection,” featuring “Ghostbusters,” “Ghostbusters II,” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, plus two discs full of special features! Includes more than 20 hours of rare behind-the-scenes and must-see archival gems, including the full Preview Cut of the original movie and much, much more. Presented in collectible “ghost trap” packaging with lights, it includes a full 220-page reprint of the rare 1985 “Making Ghostbusters” book/ Also includes digital versions of all three films, plus “Ghostbusters: Answer the Call.”

The Spine of Night (Animated Fantasy Horror)
RLJE Films, a unit of AMC Networks, and Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, will release the horror “The Spine of Night” on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD DVD/Blu-ray SteelBook Tuesday Feb. 1. Boasting an all-star cast, “The Spine of Night” features Richard E. Grant (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”), Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”), Patton Oswalt (“Young Adult”), Betty Gabriel (“Get Out”) and Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”). The film was co-written and co-directed by Philip Gelatt and Morgan Galen King.
This epic fantasy tale, about the history of a land that never was, begins when an ambitious young man steals forbidden knowledge from a sacred plant. He falls to its darker temptations and in so doing, unleashes ages of suffering onto mankind. As his power grows over the years, it falls to people of different ilk and culture to attempt to stop him. Among those who stand against him are a daring tomb-robber, star-crossed lovers, a maniacal necromancer, winged assassins, and an undying guardian.
The DVD will be available for the suggested retail price (SRP) of $27.97, the Blu-ray for $28.96 (SRP) and the 4K UHD DVD/Blu-ray SteelBook for $35.97 (SRP).

Superhost (Horror)
RLJE Films also is releasing “Superhost” on VOD, Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday Feb. 1.
Directed and written by Brandon Christensen (“Z,” “Still/Born”), “Superhost” stars Sara Canning (“9-1-1”, “Nancy Drew”), Osric Chau (“The Flash”, “Nancy Drew”), Gracie Gillam (“Z Nation,” “Scream Queens”), and Barbara Crampton (“Jakob’s Wife”).
Teddy and Claire are travel vloggers who run a channel called “Superhost” where they travel and share their experiences in and around vacation homes, and until recently, had become successful doing it. With a dwindling subscriber count, they find the perfect opportunity to create content that people want to see when they meet Rebecca, the host of their most recent trip. Slowly they start to realize that something isn’t right with Rebecca, and as they investigate it further, they unlock a horrifying truth. She doesn’t just want a great review, she wants something far worse.
Bonus features include a director’s commentary, deleted scenes, shooting in a pandemic, bloopers and more. The DVD will be available for $27.97 (SRP) and on Blu-ray for $28.96 (SRP).

Wayne’s World: 30th Anniversary Party On! Edition (Adventure Comedy)
Celebrate the world’s most endearing slackers when “Wayne’s World” arrives in a Limited-Edition Blu-ray SteelBook Tuesday Feb. 1, just in time for the film’s 30th anniversary.
Originally released on Feb. 14, 1992, “Wayne’s World” marked the feature film debut of Wayne and Garth, the wildly popular characters originated by Mike Myers and Dana Carvey on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.”  A hilarious send-up of pop culture, the film also features Rob Lowe, Tia Carrere, and Alice Cooper, in which the very presence of these stars would elicit the response from the best friends, “We’re not worthy.”
Directed by Penelope Spheeris and written by Mike Myers and Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, “Wayne’s World” follows the slackers as they try to promote their public-access cable show.
A hit with both critics and fans, the comedy ultimately earned over $183 million in worldwide box office receipts and spawned the sequel “Wayne’s World 2.” A double feature of the two films will also be available on Blu-ray with access to digital copies on Feb. 1.
