HOLLYWOOD—With the sixth season of the wildly popular biker series “Sons of Anarchy” set to premiere on FX on Sept. 10, fans of the show or just plain newbies can catch up with what leads up to the season opener with the fifth season of “Sons of Anarchy” now available on DVD and Blu-ray.

The latest installment of this adrenaline-charged drama series created by Kurt Sutter is now out on home video. It features extended episodes of arguably the most explosive season yet.

Charlie Hunnam, rumored to be a frontrunner to play Christian Grey in the highly anticipated big screen adaption of the erotic E.L. James bestseller “50 Shades of Grey,” is back as Jax. As SAMCRO’S newly elected president, he is surrounded by ruthless enemies and gut-wrenching betrayal. Jimmy Smits joined the cast this season as Nero Padilla, an escort service operator who became Jax’s mentor and Harold Perrineau arrived in town as villain Damon Pope.

With Gemma (Katie Sagal) fighting for the family and a bloodthirsty Clay (Ron Perlman) out for revenge, there’s plenty more drama to be had. Jax finds himself haunted by the sins of his past. Alliances are forged, friends are murdered and loyalties are put to the test. With the truth in sight, Jax does whatever it takes to secure the legacy of the brotherhood and protect his family.

The Blu-ray version includes deleted scenes, a commentary on standout episode “Sovereign,” with Sutter, Sagal, (executive producer and principal director) Paris Barclay, Maggie Siff (who plays Tara Knowles-Teller) and Dayton Callie (who plays former police chief Wayne Unser). There’s also a gag reel, a feature on recurring character Opie Winston (played by Ryan Hurst), an interview with Sutter on the making of the series, and more.
