Stronger for Life (Documentary)

Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, will release the inspirational documentary “Stronger for Life,” the feature film debut chronicling the cancer diagnosis and journey to wellness of fitness icon Ilaria Montagnani (the founder of fitness brand Powerstrike) across all TVOD/Digital platforms & Blu-ray/DVD throughout the North America beginning Tuesday July 20.

When the internationally acclaimed fitness expert received her initial diagnosis of breast cancer in the summer of 2016, she decided to film footage documenting this emotionally and physically challenging journey. Her whole life, she has been driven to acquire strength and knowledge to help herself and others, and this terrifying cancer diagnosis was no exception to her life’s mission. Her main belief that hard work teaches you to never give up was truly put to the test and she wanted to honestly show how this disease would affect her physically and emotionally.

For anyone, a diagnosis of cancer is a frightening and life-changing experience but for a professional athlete and international fitness instructor, it is a challenge of unprecedented impact. Montagnani sought out a woman who took her workouts, Noriko Sugiura, a Japanese filmmaker friend to help guide her in the process. More than a 100-hours of footage in on a hand-held camera, she next sought out a team of editors and cinematographers—Corey Florin (“Dream Factories”), Stephanie Gaweda (“Summer Moon”), and Federico Rosenzvit (“Years of Living Dangerously”), to guide and shape the documentary chronicling her journey.

This is the filmmaking team that eventually shot and edited the movie that became “Stronger for Life,” a cinematic sibling to inspiring and relatable documentaries “Dancer,” and “Any One of Us,” which have chronicled the physical and mental struggles of athletes where life has thrown them unseen medical curveballs and a chance to make it through to the other side of illness.

Women Composers (Documentary)

The lives and works of three female composers is explored in “Women Composers,” arriving on DVD/Digital Tuesday July 20, from Film Movement.

The stories of Mel Bonis, Lili Boulanger and Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel come to light in this DVD that also includes a filmmaker Q&A and special performance of Bonis’ “Ohelie” by filmmaker Kyra Steckeweh.

Stekeweh, a pianist, realized her repertoire almost exclusively consisted of music composed by men, so she began researching the work of past female composers. Searching archives, libraries and publishing houses, she discovered rarely performed piano pieces by these three remarkable women, whose stories had been buried by history.

In “Women Composers,” Steckeweh provides an in-depth examination of the little-known music from these three remarkable women, while also highlighting the historical and personal circumstances under which they created their works in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The “Women Composers” DVD/Digital will be available for $24.95 (SRP).

If the situation wasn’t already dangerous enough, Sean’s assumption of power causes ripples in the world of international crime. Perhaps the one man who might be able to help him and be his ally is Elliott Finch (Dìrísù) who, up until now, has been one of life’s losers, a lowlife chancer with a mysterious interest in the Wallace family. But, as the wind of fate blows, Elliot finds himself transported to the inner workings of the largest criminal organization in London. It doesn’t end with the Wallaces, though. There are shadowy higher powers at play.
