HOLLYWOOD—The complete second season of the hit FX TV series “American Horror Story” is available on home video. The second season revolves around a terrifying asylum run by the iron-fisted Sister Jude (Emmy winner Jessica Lange).

The sins of the past haunt the present at the notorious Briarcliff home for the criminally insane in this 13-episode season. Forbidden desire and terrifying evil lurk around every corner—from alien abduction to demonic possession to a skin-wearing psychopath known as “Bloody Face.” Set in 1964, “American Horror Story: Asylum” (as it’s formally called) follows the stories of the inhabitants of this institution.

Ryan Murphy (“Glee,” “Nip/Tuck”) and his longtime writing partner Brad Falchuk created the anthology-style series, which has received both critical and popular acclaim. The series premiered in 2011 with “American Horror Story: Murder House,” and became an instant hit.

In the second season, which originally aired last Fall through January 2013, Lange leads an all-star ensemble cast, including Zachary Quinto, James Cromwell and Sarah Paulson.

The Blu-ray of “American Horror Story: Asylum” contains deleted scenes as well as several featurettes: “The Orderly,” “Welcome to Briarcliff Manor,” “What is American Horror Story: Asylum?” and a behind-the-scenes on how the creatures on the show are made.

The home video release of the second season coincides with the arrival of the third season of the series called “American Horror Story: Coven,” premiering Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
